The Northern Beltline project has just received an endorsement after the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce went to Washington to get more funding. The Northern Beltline route will come through Clay according to the current plans. Specifically, plans show it will come across Old Springville Road between Cavern Road and Sterling Arbor subdivision.

Some Clay and Trussville residents have formed a group, SOURCE, which opposes the planned route.
