The Clay News Discussion Board is closing on Friday, August 28, sometime after 6 p.m.
During the day on Friday, all Clay News will be picked up from the distribution locations.
Features previously published in the Clay News will gradually added to the website archives. The website will remain online for people to look at past Clay News articles.

Update: Bryant Park, which includes this field, is now owned by the City of Clay. Recently, the city has been making improvements to the facility and the grounds. Also, Kat Mobley has since died.
Before Jackie Robinson, Dizzy Dean, Lou Gehrig and Satchel Paige, Chalkville folks rallied around baseball. When larger-than-life Babe Ruth was walloping balls over fences, the Chalkville Zippers were winning their way to a league championship. When Ty Cobb was stealing bases, fans rooted for the hometown boys on the sidelines of the Chalkville ballpark. In fact, some insist that even before Mordecai “Three Finger” Brown pitched the 1907 World Series, Chalkville gathered around the ball field.

Clay News is stopping publication. August 14 issue will be the last one. A statement will be made in that issue with more information as to why. The reason is complex. But this is not because of failed business management. It is a choice.
